Romantic studio apartment complete with four poster bed and ceiling beams. You will also benifit from the use of a free parking permit for the duration of your stay. You will enjoy the romantic atmosphere in our comfortable, old, beamed studio apartment in the very heart of old Honfleur. Perfect for two the charm and atmosphere is cosy and comfortable, yet light and tranquil. The old oak ceiling beams add to the old world ambience and when you look out of the typical French windows onto Rue des Lingots, you see a quiet, old cobbled street with half timbered, old Norman houses. You will find everything you need for your holiday. The corner kitchen is well equipped for the occasional meal and excellent petite déjeuner, fridge, cooker, crockery, cutlery, storage etc. The toilet/bathroom is comfortable and nicely lit. Also in the apartment is a store cupboard which houses the large emersion tank and is ideal for your bits and pieces. (Sorry, no dishwasher or washing machine). There is a hi fi, English video and the French TV. The TV. Receives French channels and will receive the weather forecast (meteo)...try not to watch anything else, though. The table and chairs, wardrobe and comfy cottage settee complete the picture in our simple but homely piede a terre in Honfleur. Rue des Lingots is mentioned in dispatches as long ago as the 1500s, associated with Honfleur's early treasury and, later, the port's ship building industry, the street holds many memories. Napoleon dined in a house opposite St Catherines...although not recently I am told and this narrow, twisting cobbled street with its overhanging half timbered buildings suggests that it has been witness to much of the past life of Honfleur. 30 meters away is the old church of St Catherines which is of wooden construction and had two aisles. Built to celebrate the end of the 100 years war and English occupation, it was a temporary place of worship but still stands today. Opposite is the quirky old bell tower with its pointed slate roof and witch hat appearance. Although situated on the second floor, our studio is reached via 25 easily negotiated stairs (in two sections). We chose St Catherines as our Honfleur base because of its age and layout - cool in the summer and warm in the winter and also because Rue des Lingots is one of the quietest streets in Honfleur. It is very central and is within easy walking distance of most places; 90 seconds to the old quay,60 seconds to the car park, 10 seconds to the boulangerie, 12 seconds to the Saturday morning market, 15 seconds to some of the best restaurants, etc etc...all within staggering distance. The 2005 tariff starts at £190 per week. This is an all-in price including the individually controlled, electric heating and hot water, lighting etc. All you need to bring is your personal towels, tea towels, sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases.
